2025…New year….New?

My dad has this thing he says very often on the last day of the year : « 1st January is just like any other day. Nothing special about it. Why the fuss about a new year?» This, right here, is the hard truth! The only difference between yesterday and today is the fact that we now have to write 2025 instead of 2024 when writing dates. It is just another new day, with business as usual!

So instead of sitting down to write a page full of new year resolutions you never look at or think about after January 15th because you’ve not been real with yourself to set any SMART goals, why not just entrust this year into the hands of God and decide to take it one day at a time?

I asked my girlfriends what their new year resolutions were and I was so proud of them when one after the other, they kept saying the same things in different ways – Trusting God and taking it a day at a time.

We know one thing for sure; life has ups and downs. Always. What makes a difference is how resilient we stay, keep fighting, and holding on to hope in both good and bad times, and for us, Christians, we know with Jesus in our boat, we definitely will smile at every storm. He has not promised us a life without tribulations. He said He was going to be with us always…through it all.

Isaiah 43:2-3, 5 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

So this 2025, probably take a cue from my resolutions: Live. Love. Laugh. Repeat!

I pray you don’t trouble yourself so much drawing a strict vision board for yourself in your bid to have « goals » you want to achieve by 31st December 2025 – putting yourself on a strict diet that takes your breath away or setting up a saving scheme that makes you look literally like your problems. Take it a day at a time and just live life. Okay?

La vie est toujours belle…Life is still and always beautiful. Enjoy it, don’t just ‘coast’ through it…

So Happy new year, my dears! Bonne année! And if you’re not motivated by this to just live, I hope you’re motivated by knowing that one of the things I wanted to see happen for me in 2024 was to have a picture of myself in Paris with the Eiffel Tower behind me, and at 23:55 on 31st December 2024, that became a reality!

Just live! Good things will happen to you as you do!
